George Washington: 3 Interesting Facts
“George Washington looks weird, but the dog looks nice.” – Feedback from my eldest
Here are three interesting facts about George Washington:
- He loved dogs. He bred and cared for over 30 dogs. Three of these dogs were supposedly named Drunkard, Tipler, and Tipsy.
- He wrote a lot of letters. A LOT. Estimates are between 18,000 to 20,000 letters.
- He had a temper. General Charles Scott wrote of Washington’s reaction to Charles Lee’s retreat from the Battle of Monmouth Courthouse in 1778:
“He swore that day till the leaves shook on the trees. Charming! Delightful! Never have I enjoyed such swearing before or since. Sir, on that memorable day he swore like an angel from heaven!”
